Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden Review

Mutant Year Zero is a tactical strategy game mixed with an adventure game producing an interesting combination. Quite a few compare it directly to XCOM for its tactical and turn-based gameplay and that makes sense. At the same time, there is a lot more to Mutant Year Zero than just a simple clone of another tactical game.

Northgard’s story starts pretty simply, it’s a revenge story, where your family has been slaughtered, and you’re out to make those who did pay. Simple, but efficient setting off a great course of events. The odd thing is this isn’t a typical action or adventure game, instead what we have here is a throwback to the old days of the RTS. But is it any good?

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Review

Warhammer and Warhammer 40k are some of the largest gaming lores around. They span over 50 titles and expansions and is probably closer to 75 if one took the time to count them all. We’ll be looking at a sequel to a major hit in the franchise, Warhammer Vermintide 2. Can it be an interesting take on its own or will the knowledge of the missing lore hurt it?

When Ski Lifts Go Wrong Review

It’s time to return to the indie roots. I found When Ski Lifts Go Wrong based on some gifs the creator had posted on Reddit. It had a compelling development story about a guy, his brother, and his friend making the game. I’m not one to consider team sizes. What did impress was the look and gameplay he was showing off was impressive, and I wanted to see if it lived up to the gifs.

In 2011, Q.U.B.E. first came out. It was a unique physics-based puzzler. While it had a similar aesthetic to Portal, it offered a unique and interesting puzzle game, with a focus on manipulating parts of the wall and was a solid puzzle with a great design. Toxic Games has returned with a sequel, Q.U.B.E. 2. Will it also shine?

In 1997, Bullfrog Studios develop something special. It was a follow-up to their very popular Theme Park game, but this time they tackled a new topic: hospitals. The game’s name was Theme hospital, and it developed a cult following. We fast forward a little over twenty years and we now have a spiritual successor to the original game, including some of the same people at the helm. This time it’s called Two Point Hospital, is it as good as the original?
