Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Review

Played on Windows
Also Available on Linux, macOS, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita, (PlayStation Portable in Japan only)

After reviewing Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc in September 2018, it stuck in my head. The story was good and the game was unique, so ultimately I’m going to give it a special award. It was the first game where I felt I needed to play its sequel. I did abstain from it for a little while waiting for a good price, but I also needed to play more of it. And thus we return to Hope’s Peak Academy, for Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Three months later and we’re going back to school.

Viscera Cleanup Detail Review

Played on Windows

We’re getting ready for the family at home, bookended between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it’s time for the ritual of family, friends, and cleaning that is required for everything. That’s the focus of home life. So why not digitize that and clean as a game. Honestly, if you asked me to make a million games, I would never think of it, however, the team at Runestorm came up with it, and I think it’s one of the most inventive games I’ve ever played. But is it more than just an idea?

Disclosure (review copy) at the end of the review.

Disgaea is a long-running series of SRPG from Nippon Ichi that started on the PlayStation 2 and have had relatively constant releases. While it remained the PlayStation family of consoles for a long time, a couple of years ago Nippon Ichi ported the original game to the PC, along with the sequel the next year. This year, however, Nippon Ichi suddenly ported Disgaea 5 to the PC along with all it’s DLC, fresh for fans to check out. So is this the latest and greatest, or did they just skip a few games? Let’s find out.

World of Final Fantasy Review

Played on Windows
Also Available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One (including an enhanced version World of Final Fantasy Maxima)

Two years ago, Final Fantasy released a most interesting game that flew under the radar named World of Final Fantasy. It was announced at E3 2015 in both Sony’s and Square Enix’s show. It was one of the only mentioned of final fantasy, but got overshadowed by Hitman, Just Cause 3, Final Fantasy VII Remake (still not out), Kingdom Hearts 3 (Also not out) and more The fact is what was shown was a cutesy video with chibi characters, and it definitely slipped under the radar. So it actually came out the following year in 2016 and didn’t get much attention. Was it a missed opportunity, or a silent failure? We’ll see.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Review

Played on Windows and PlayStation 4
Also available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One.

Oh boy, so we come to the last game of the Humble Monthly Bundle of December 2018, and it’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. This is a big game, and I feel that it’s impossible to divorce this review from the company who made the game, the man who made it, and the situation surrounding it. In fact, any attempt to do so at this point would not be properly judging Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

So we tackle the second Early Unlock of the Humble Monthly Bundle for December 2018, and it’s Cities: Skylines. But is it really that good?

So we begin the Humble Monthly Bundle Reviews for December 2018 with Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, which is a mouthful, so I’ll probably just call it Ground Zeroes for brevity’s sake. It’s a game from 2014 that was to introduce people to the new Metal Gear Solid 5 system and the brand new Fox Engine. Now it can be found bundled along with Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain definitive edition. Let’s talk about just the Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes game.

One Piece Pirates Warriors 3 Review

Played on Windows
Also Available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Switch

When One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 originally released, there was already 8 main Dynasty Warriors games, as well as many offshoots. In addition, there was a number of Samurai Warrior games as well as three Warriors Orochi games by this point. I say this simply to allow the reader to understand the momentum behind One Piece Pirate Warriors 3, and realize that it is yet another Dynasty Warrior game. But is it a good one?

ICEY Review

Played on Windows.
Also Available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android.

I received ICEY as part of a bundle with the Steam Link. Actually, I bought the Steam Link and got ICEY with it, but I was curious about why it was the game to be featured in the Steam Link Bundle, so I put it in my queue, though near the bottom. Well, it’s time to finally look at ICEY and figure out what’s so special about it.

Headliner Review

Played on Windows
Also Available on Linux and macOS

Headliner caught my attention with a simple tagline “What if you control the national news?” Interesting premise and a question that made me wonder “What if I did control the national news?” Fact-based reporting? No slant? Spread the writings of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense… I could do so much. So what would Headliner allow me to do?
