Tokyo Xtreme Racer Franchise – Fixing a 20 year old game, and the future of the series

I’m Kinglink and it’s been around a year since I did something. Maybe I should finally talk about it. But before we go into that, I want to take you back. Not a year, not 5 years, not even 15 years, but over 20 years and a touch before the most important part of this story.

In 2001 I picked up a game, simply put it was really good. That game was known as Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero. This was already a large franchise before this point, which was relatively popular. It had two major releases on the Dreamcast. Technically, this was the thirteenth title in the series, so I was a bit late, and yet it was the first that I and many other people found because it was the first on the PlayStation 2

Now, I love driving, but since I’ve been living in Southern California for the last decade, driving is a lot less like the game, and a lot more like this. It doesn’t matter, middle of the night, and of course there’s traffic. The good news is that this is the type of escapism that Tokyo Xtreme Racer is designed for.

Humble Choice August 2023 Review: A Stellar month

I’m Kinglink and it’s August… So it’s time for Humble Choice August 2023 Review.  This is my birthday month and this bundle is a great present, it’s amazing, except for a minor thing I will talk about later.

I’ve covered half of these games previously, most on Game Pass, and played them all on stream for an hour, so I’m ready to dive deep into these games and tell you, how they play, what is worth checking out, and who will probably enjoy it.

I’m excited to talk about them, so let’s start with what’s already on the screen.

Game Pass November 2022 Review – 17 Hits and Misses

I’m Kinglink and it’s almost turkey day here in America, so it’s time for the Game Pass November 2022 Review.

This one is a bit late but, as you’ll see in the lists of games, I wanted to cover Pentiment and that came out on the 15th.  The good news is I have that and many others, so we talk about all of these titles, and even give a hint of what’s coming up, but that’s for later.

Normally I play only the PC games, but give me a moment here, and let me call out Vampire Survivors, I’ve covered it previously on the series, and I remember I said you should buy it even if it’s on Game Pass.  It’s 5 dollars on Xbox and I still believe that it’s worth it.  It’s a lot of fun, so console gamers, you have the chance, check that game out, I will guarantee you’ll enjoy it, and good luck hunting me down if you don’t.

This month I haven’t played all of these games as much.  While I do sit down with these titles for a night, quite a few of them are games I’ve played previously, or stopped for various reasons, we’ll get into the why when applicable, but I have had some great experiences, let’s start with what’s on the screen, perhaps the biggest release of the month.

Game Pass October 2022 Review – Impressive games and an important update

I’m Kinglink and it’s the middle of October so it’s time for the Game Pass October 2022 review.

I’m back once again with 16 titles new to Game Pass with a focus on PC.  I’ve spent a night, about three to four hours on almost every game and now am ready to talk about it, what’s good, what’s bad, and who will like each title.

I am putting this video out before Plague Tale Requiem, and I really want to cover that game, but then this video would come out later than I wanted.  Don’t worry I’ll get it next month, and I have a good feeling that it’ll be another high-quality title.

I do have some news for the channel and this series, but I’m going to save that for the end so we can focus on what’s important here.

We’re going to start with a familiar title for this channel.   It’s a game I already have talked about this month, so let’s roll back time and go over it once more.

Thoughts on a studio closure – Zachtronics and their legacy

I’m Kinglink.  Let’s take a break. My channel for the last year has been Game Pass reviews, and Humble Choice reviews, and I’m not planning a major change, but something happened.  About a month ago I saw an article that shook me.  I’m not going to drag it out, it’s probably in the title and on screen, Zachtronics is shutting down.

Zachtronics is probably not well known as a studio, but it’s a game studio I love, perhaps more than any other, and that includes RGG, who makes the Yakuza games.  Zachtronics is the studio that makes me feel seen, it’s a studio that makes games specifically for me, and while there are other games that I might be in the minority opinion on like Lawn Mowing Simulator, Zachtronics is just different.

So with their closing, I figured I would try to eulogize them, similar to Kongregate, which is still running so eulogies are a relative term, but I’m not sure I can.  I could make this a long dive into who they are, but instead, I’d rather spend the time telling you about Zachtronics and getting you to check out their games.

Humble Choice March 2022 Review – A Major lineup

I’m Kinglink and it’s time for the Humble Choice March 2022 Review.

This month we once again have 8 titles, and shockingly, Humble might actually have a solid month.  Though there is one big asterisk, right below the Mass Effect title, which we will talk about later.  However the lineup is good, so let’s see how the games are.

As always I play each game for an hour and will tell you what I think of them, if you should check them out and who might enjoy them.

Humble Choice December 2021 Review – Ending the year with style

I’m Kinglink and it’s the end of the year, which means it’s the Humble Choice December 2021 Review.

It’s been a great year, and we’re ending on a massive bundle, but before we get into that, I just want to say two personal things.   First, I broke 3000 subscribers and I’m staggered, so I want to thank all of you for subscribing from the bottom of my heart.  I quite literally couldn’t hit that goal without any of your support.

Second,  I’ve created a discord server. It’s called The Roundtable, and if you’re interested check the description, or possibly the pinned comment, and let’s get that server going.  I’ll talk more about it at the end but I wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Humble Choice November 2021 Review – Well that’s different…

I’m Kinglink and it’s November 2021, so of course it’s time for the Humble Choice November 2021 Review.

So this month is a little odd… Normally there are 12 games to titles to choose from, but this month, for some reason, Humble has released the newest choice with only 10, though you get all ten.  It’s something I’ve been asking for.  I was hoping that instead of throwing in random cheap titles to get their numbers up, fewer titles could be higher quality.  Did it work out that way? Let’s see.

I know some people will immediately dismiss this bundle and I get it.  I thought this was a joke at first, and still question it, but give me under twenty minutes and I’ll see if I can find some value in here for you.

Xbox Game Pass October 2021 Review Part 2 – All the major titles

I’m back, Kinglink here, and I’m doing Part 2 of the Xbox Game Pass October 2021 Review.

Part 1 is already on my channel, but don’t worry you don’t have to watch these videos in order.  What happened was Xbox released 25 titles over the last month, and I’m showing both announcements on screen.  We’ve covered the entire first image, but we’re going to have to power through the second because there are even more games not listed there.  I’ve already reviewed 13 titles, so let’s look at the last 12 and talk about the best of the month.  We have some of the heaviest hitters this month here as well.    Let’s start with…
