Humble Monthly Bundle Early Unlock Wrap Up for March 2019

Welcome again,

This month brings us three major games to talk about, and an all new video.   Yes I created a quick recap video of the month to summarize the three games as I do down below.

The March 2019 bundle was exciting for me, there was two games I had been planning to check out at some point, Earth Defense Force 4.1 and Warhammer: Vermintide 2, as well as a card game that usually goes down well with me, Cultist Simulator.   So with out further ado, let’s check it out.

Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair: This is a guilty pleasure for me.  it’s not the strongest game, but it has a ton of enemies, a story that keeps going, and tons of content.  Killing hundreds of insects is great, and playing online once you deal with their online system makes for a wonderful experience.  It’s a perfect example of Earth Defense force as a series, issues and all.

Warhammer Vermintide 2: What happens when you take Left 4 Dead, severly limit the ammo and put it in the Warhammer universe?  You get Warhammer Vermintide 2, a 4 person melee based multiplayer PVE game.  I was unsure of this game when I started but I left a true believer.  It’s a lot of fun, and the gameplay was just right.  It does multiplayer right in a number of ways, and it’s one of the perfect examples of “how to do loot boxes right” in my microtransaction discussion.

Cultist Simulator:  Check out this unique card game where we try to understand the mind of Alexis Kennedy.  This is a game that challenges you to explore and discover the weird world of the occult.  I like card games, and I’m not a fan of this one but if you like either of the two other games, and this interests you, I would definitely recommend at least giving it a shot.  But personally, I’m not a fan.

So with all three games reviewed with links available right there, let’s talk about the bundle itself.

EDF 4.1 is one of my guilty pleasures.  It does all the same stuff as Dynasty Warriors, but with b-movies instead of massive battles.  It’s actually enjoyable if you get past the initial impression.  We also have Vermintide 2 which was a surprise hit for me.  I know a lot of people have loved it before me, but I wasn’t sure and was very surprised.  Both of these games should be played in multiplayer and they both seem to have active communities still, though if you have a small group, consider getting this for everyone as both games are co-operative only and take 4 players.   Finally there’s Cultist Simulator.  It’s a really odd game and I’m unsure of it, but it’s a nice capper on the end of the bundle.  Not something I enjoyed but something I’m glad I tried.

Normally that would be it, but I did see a post on reddit yesterday which you can see here.  He appears to have found information which he believes is the upcoming lineup for this month.   The data he’s found says,

Slipstream
Fight N Rage
Paradigm
Late Shift
Tower Unite
and 20 minute metropolis

may be the unlocks that will open on Friday.   I can’t verify this information at this time, I’ll try to update this article on Friday, and keep a look out in the future hoping to catch this data next month, but I just wanted to share that potential line up if anyone is looking for those specific games.

Though please note, this is all speculation at this point, and I can’t confirm the list, I’m only sharing information.  If it doesn’t turn out to be true, I apologize.  But the information he has provided looks like it may be correct.

If you’re interested in the Humble Monthly Bundle for the Early Unlocks, or want to take a gamble on the unlocks, you can find it on their site. Here’s a link if you’re curious.  It’s another great bundle, and I’m excited to see what comes next month and of  course I’ll be back again to review that as well.

Until then, thanks for reading.
