Humble Monthly Bundle Early Unlock Review for October 2019

Coming in just under the wire, it’s the Humble Monthly Bundle Early Unlocks for October 2019 Review.  This month started with a single game, BattleTech, but as the month continued, Humble also offered BattletTech’s DLC along with another game, Sonic Mania as part of the bundle. Let’s take a look at both of these games.

BattleTech: BattleTech is a strategy game where you control a group of mech and fight against opposing Mechs…. yeah it’s kind of like a strategy version of Mechwarrior.

The graphics aren’t that impressive, and the story is weak, but the gameplay is fantastic, and building loadouts for your Mechs is exceptional.  It lacks minor improvements that hopefully will come in a sequel, but it’s a solid game and has a lot of hours worth of time.  I personally put in over 40 hours into the game, and there’s far more for me to do.

Sonic Mania:  Here we have one of my favorite games.  If you already have played Sonic Mania, you probably already know what I’m talking about, but if you somehow don’t own this game, this is a perfect time to get it.

This is a throw back to the height of Sonic’s greatness.  Sonic Mania feels like a return to the Genesis style gameplay and graphics, as well as focusing on the enjoyment of the game rather than weird gimmicks.  Sonic Mania is really what fans were looking for with the franchise, but beyond that it is an great game for anyone who wants something fun to play.

So how is this entire Bundle? I don’t even think this is a question.  Battletech itself is a fantastic game with a lot to offer.  It has a lot of hours and a fun game to play for those hours.   At the same time, Sonic Mania is worth the full 20 dollar price tag, so just for that game, the entire 12 dollar price tag is worth it.

As for a grade, I don’t think there’s a question in my mind, this is a solid bundle and definitely worth picking up.  Where BattleTech is solid for strategy games, Sonic Mania is amazing for everyone.

With that said, October 2019’s Humble Monthly Bundle a

Strong Recommendation

I’m looking forward to the next month’s bundle.  BattleTech has surprised me and the late addition of Sonic Mania was a great surprise.  Hopefully next month’s will bring us a similar surprise.
