Time for another multiplayer shooter. It’s Tom Clancy’s The Division. Once again terrorists have attacked and it’s up to one of Clancy’s various military organization to straighten things out. It’s also one of this month’s Humble Monthly Bundles, so let’s gear up and find out how it is.
I thought we would have an easy Humble Monthly Bundle for February 2019. I already reviewed Yakuza 0 and only have to play Division, but to switch things up, Humble Bundle has released another game, Rapture Rejects. Well, this is the game that got a release two months ago, and now is in a Humble Monthly Bundle, that’s a bit of a red flag. Let’s take a look and find out exactly what it’s about.
Apparently, I’m a fan of cooking games. I never knew that but since launching this site nine months ago, I’ve reviewed Cook Serve Delicious, Overcooked, and even have Chef on deck. Well if that’s the case, I guess that’s why I’m back here again, taking a look at the Iron Chef TV show Meets Bejeweled Twist. This is Battle Chef Brigade.
Sonic Mania is easily one of the best Sonic games that have come out in recent years, as I stated in a recent review (link this). But the train didn’t stop there. In addition to the excellent game, the team that brought us Sonic Mania took it a step further and produced DLC. I guess everything can’t be retro with this game.
Sonic Mania made a big splash as it was created after a number of years. It was created by Christian Whitehead, who made fan games of Sonic and eventually a history of working with Sega on a number of ports of their properties. To have a studio take a fan game idea and want to make an official game out of it is surprising. To see it done with a major property such as Sonic makes it even more impressive. The question is whether Sonic Mania lives up to the legacy of Sonic.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is the follow up to Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor, a rather popular action adventure game from 2014. Shadow of Mordor was quite popular and I enjoyed it quite a bit, so I was looking forward to Shadow of War. It stayed on my radar but there was a reason I was hesitating to pull the trigger.
I picked up Slime Rancher because of how it looked. You can see the title screen below and it’s a really cute and charming game with adorable art. I’m a fan of Stardew Valley and was hopeful that Slime Rancher would give me a similar experience with a focus on building and improving a ranch over time. The question is, does it live up to the look and style?
I wasn’t sure of what to make of Wizard of Legend the first time I saw it. It reminded me a lot of Magicka, an overly complicated spell-casting game, and I wondered if Wizard of Legend would end up the same, a good game, but not one that really spoke to me. The good news is that in hindsight I realize how silly that comparison really is, aside from both characters being wizards, and casting “magic” in some form, there’s really not much to compare the games on. So what is Wizard of Legend really like?
Project CARS 2 is the sequel to the rather interesting Project CARS, they’re racing games made by a passionate group named Slightly Mad Studios. The original game was community funded, and heavily influenced by feedback. The actual title for the game is Project Community Assisted Racing Simulation. So after a successful first game, Project CARS 2 should be the bigger and deeper racer. Is it?
I’m a fan of action movies with a lot of explosions and destructions. I think Avalanche Studios is as well. I’m making that assumption based on what Just Cause 3 spends its time doing. The game starts with an amazing action scene having the main character, Rico Rodriguez stand on top of a small plane and shoot down SAM sites as explosions and action rains around him. Most games would be showing off their entire game and then flashback to a simpler start, but this is Just Cause 3, it revels in its dedication to action. So is that enough to sustain the entire game?
