Hello again,

Welcome to my wrap up of the Humble Monthly Bundle for September 2018.

This month there were three games again in the Early Unlock system. However there was a little twist, in that a previous month’s game (October 2017) I’ve reviewed the three games, Staxel, Sniper Elite 4, and Tales of Berseria as you can see below and will discuss Rise of the Tomb Raider as well. An explanation of how this month’s system works. After buying the bundle, you go to your purchase page, on that page, you can choose Staxel, Sniper Elite 4 and Tales of Berseria, or to take Rise of the Tomb Raider by itself. Either choice allows you to get the future unlocks, which will be likely six more games.

Staxel: A rather by the numbers combination of Minecraft and Stardew Valley.

Sniper Elite 4: A rather excellent sniper game that allows the player to play stealthily or go guns blazing, though stealth is recommended.

Tales of Berseria: A very long but solid JRPG in the Tales series.

As for the Rise of the Tomb Raider, I wish I had the time to give it a full review but blame Tales of Berseria. I have previously played it on PS4, and while I think it wasn’t as groundbreaking as the first remake “Tomb Raider”, it’s still a solid game, and if you want more of that style, it has that.

I will say, I wish Rise of the Tomb Raider could have been an add on as you have to choose between the two choices, and buying a second bundle may be against the rules of the site. However either pack, the three games, or Rise of the Tomb Raider is a good value.

Just like for August 2018, I’ll give my thoughts on why you should get the Humble Monthly Bundle for September 2018, as a preface I can’t really recommend against it, as you usually find at least one or two gems in each bundle, and even if not, with 9 games, you only have to get 1.33 out of value out of the games to find a value.

For this month though, I really like two of the Early Unlocks. I’m not a fan of Staxel as it is. I think buying Minecraft and Stardew Valley, even if they are more expensive is a better use of your money. At the same time, Sniper Elite is a series I’ve wanted to play more of for a while, and just haven’t had the time to get to play Sniper Elite 3. I skipped it to play 4, and that’s acceptable (they can be played as standalone games) and really enjoyed myself, putting in 17 hours I believe in it.

On the other hand if you’re a person who wants quantity to games, and wants longer games, Tales of Berseria has you covered. It took me 70 in game hours to beat, and while it can be beaten in 44 hours, that’s still a ton, and that’s for one playthrough. Completionists are probably looking at triple digits to even try to beat it all.

So for 12 dollar, those two games alone would have been worth it, and that’s an easy recommendation for me. Again if you just want Rise of the Tomb Raider, and want an action game, it’s also a decent deal for 12 dollars, It is the base game that’s no longer on sale, and the 20 years celebration (that comes with just the season pass) does go on sale often, but again, the other unlocks are in this deal.
