Humble Monthly Bundle Early Unlock Review for August 2019

It’s time to look at the Early Unlocks for Humble Monthly Bundle for August 2019.  This month had another pair of game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Surviving Mars.  Let’s see how they are.

As always, I’ll link the full reviews and include the video reviews for those who want more information on either game.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance:  Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a very realistic RPG with a focus on providing a realistic look into the time period.  It’s a strange and novel look at what it would be like to become a “hero” in ancient times and is much more slow and methodical than most RPGs.

The thing that I just couldn’t get into is how realistic and slow many of the skills are to grow while how easily other characters seem to destroy you, however I admit I mostly played a non violent character.  Others have said it’s better to practice the skills far more early on.

I am not a huge fan of this game, but honestly this game seems like it’d be really fun for the right person.  It does have a ton of content and honestly I didn’t hate the time I spent with it and probably could have spent even more.

Surviving Mars:  Surviving Mars is a base builder but set on the hostile planet of Mars.  The game is mostly about survival on the planet, get the right resources, mine for minerals, and try to remain both profitable and safe.

Similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, I’m not a huge fan of this one.  It’s not a bad game, but honestly, I think it’s a bit weak.  There’s no real goals other than surviving and maybe tackling a small Mystery when you reach a certain size.  This one just probably isn’t for me, but I think it’s a bit weak for a base builder.

Now last month I started “Scoring” each month’s Humble Monthly Bundle.  With one of three grades out of Strong, Medium, or Weak.   This month is an easy score.  Kingdom Come: Deliverence has a ton of content, a lot of interesting ideas in gaming, and a really solid experience.  If you haven’t played it, getting it for 12 dollars just on the chance you might love it is worth it.  That’s the type of game I look for in Humble Monthly Bundle and they clearly delivered this month.

I’m giving this Humble Monthly Bundle a

Strong Recommendation
