This is the Police Review

Played on Windows.
Also Available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, macOS, and Linux.

“Usually before I go shaking my tits for the press, I like to see how the professionals do it” This is how This is the Police starts up with the opening cinematic every time you boot it up. There’s such a long delay on the skip button, that it’s impossible to avoid the word “tits” being said by the game itself. It’s a crass line that doesn’t age well, and hearing it close to 10 times, I cringe every time I hear it. It does try to set the mood for the game, but if this is the first thing the game wants you to know about it, can it really be hiding anything?

Planet Coaster Review

Played on Windows

In 2016, there was a new RollerCoaster Tycoon being released called Roller Coaster World. It’s understandable if you didn’t hear about it. as much of the initial response to the game was rather rough. People weren’t happy with the final product and that’s fine. However, through the criticism, there was one thing a lot of people commented on. “Planet Coaster is going to be better than this”. I wasn’t even aware Roller Coaster World was about to release, but I hadn’t heard of Planet Coaster at the time, but it had so many fans commenting about it on a different game, I was curious. It was going to release a day later, so timing made sense. If Roller Coaster World wasn’t good, would Planet Coaster be any better?

River City Ransom: Underground Review

Played on Windows
Also Available for macOS and Linux.

If you talk about the great NES titles, almost everyone is going to talk about Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Brothers. It’s a fact, they’re some of the best games, perhaps of all time. However, once you get past the ultra common and popular titles, the NES has a few dubious games, as well as some hidden gems. We’re going to talk about a successor to one such hidden gem, River City Ransom. If you’ve never played it, you missed out on a really great NES game, it was a fighting game with RPG elements and a decent story for the time.

So twenty years later, we have a sequel in America to River City Ransom. Wait what? Yeah, there’s an odd story here. Apparently Conatus Creative had a Kickstarter to make a sequel to the original River City Ransom. They went to the current rights holder (Arc System Works) and licensed the game, and from there made the sequel which is named River City Ransom: Underground. So here I sit today writing a review based on a classic NES game.

Conan Exiles Review

Played on Windows.
Also Available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

So Conan Exiles is the third game of the Humble Monthly Bundle for August 2018, and it’s time for me to tackle it. I wasn’t sure about Conan Exiles. It gave me a roller coaster of emotions. I love Arnold Schwarzenegger, and he was Conan, that’s good. But this isn’t Arnold’s version. That’s bad. But this is still Conan, “What is Best in life?” That’s good. But this is a survival game… that’s bad at least for me. Still, I’m going to tackle this game as best as I can and the fact that it only came out a couple months ago is interesting.

The Escapists 2 Review

Played on Windows
Also available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Linux, macOS

I played the original The Escapists in 2015. It was an interesting idea for a game but ultimately I didn’t enjoy the experience and quickly moved on to other games, vowing not to return to prison, at least with that series. So in 2018, I’m back in the same pixelized prisons and I wonder how I got here. Well apparently, The Escapists did well enough and then Humble Monthly Bundle for August 2018 picked The Escapists 2 in their Early Unlocks, and once again I’m back in the hole, the pokey, or the big house.

A Hat In Time Review

Played on Windows
Also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, macOS

I launched my Steam Curator site in January 2018 and wanted to get some new games to curate. I ended up picking up Sonic Mania, Hollow Knight and A Hat in Time. Honestly, that is a really solid pack of games and I ended up recommending all three games. Back then since my reviews were on Steam I only could write 8,000 characters and only give a positive recommendation or a negative recommendation. Things were easier. Now Humble Monthly Bundle August 2018 has arrived and brought A Hat In Time in its collection, so it’s time to do a proper review of that game, as well as my first “Re-review”.
